Board Member - Matt Roque

Matt was born in Killarney, Ontario, Canada.  After graduating with a BA in Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier University, Matt worked and traveled his way around the world for several years before settling in Southern California.

Matt began his Law Enforcement career with Tustin in 2007 as a 911 Dispatcher, before becoming a sworn Police Officer (and US Citizen) in 2011.  Matt worked in Patrol, Special Enforcement Detail, and as a Field Training Officer, Terrorism Liaison Officer, and UaS pilot before promoting to Sergeant in 2019.

As a Sergeant, Matt was a Patrol Watch Commander,  Field Training Coordinator and K9 Supervisor, before moving on to become the Detective Sergeant.

Matt promoted to Lieutenant in December 2025.  He serves as the Special Operations Lieutenant where he oversees the Investigations Unit, Gang Unit, SWAT, and Special Response Team (SRT).

Matt previously served  for four years on the board Tustin Police Officers Association (TPOA) in various roles, and was also a board member on the Tustin Police Foundation from 2015 to 2022.
